The first time I saw this graph, several weeks ago, it appeared that the decline in the present was far greater than the ups and downs that were portrayed from the fifties. It made me wonder if I was seeing a different version, sorry I don’t remember the location of the first.

You are right – the graph you linked to was in logs. A non log version would look like this
